We are creating a large scale, freely available, semantic dictionary of the Malay languages (currently Malaysian and Indonesian). This is the Wordnet Bahasa, inspired by the Princeton WordNet and the Global WordNet Grid.

As well as being searchable online, the data from this project is available from the download page. It includes many contributions from previous Malaysian and Indonesian Wordnet Projects. If you are interested in joining in the construction, or have any questions, please contact the mailing list at: wn-msa-devel@lists.sourceforge.net.

Please feel free to use the wordnet in any way you please (license). If you use it for research, please cite one (or more) of our papers.

If you have any questions or comments please contact us at: wn-msa-devel@lists.sourceforge.net. All relations (hypernyms, meronyms, ...) come from Princeton WordNet 3.0. We have enriched the synsets with Indonesian and Malay lemmas.

Disclaimer: We estimate that this release contains errors in as many as 5–10% of entries. We decided to initially spend more effort in increasing the cover than in checking each entry. As we translate the glosses and sense tag text, we expect to fix many of the errors. We also welcome feedback.

Source code for this project is available for download.
